Omer Kalderon was born in Jerusalem in 1987. He completed high school in 2005 with majors in both music and philosophy. While serving the IDF he began studying for a bachelor of arts in political science and international relations via correspondence through the Open University of Israel.
Omer served as a shaliach for the Jewish Agency in the US for two summer camps (Young Judaea-TY and JCCA-Camp Barny Medintz) and worked as a madrich
(counselor) for Young Judaea and FZY's Year Course in Israel for a year. Omer arrived in South Africa in November 2009 as a shaliach for the SAZF (South African Zionist Federation), Herzlia Schools and Habonim Dror, focusing on Israel advocacy and building connections between Israel and the Cape Town community. As a shaliach for the Cape Town Jewish community Omer decided to live in a Moishe House.
