In February, ACCESS piloted the first in a national series of Advocacy Days which seek to connect ACCESS members from around the country to network, advocate and celebrate together with local AJC and ACCESS members, and diplomatic and community partners.
Advocacy Day participants partook in private advocacy meetings with the Consuls General of Israel, the UK, France, Peru and Mexico, and advanced their knowledge of Jewish-Latino relations in high level briefings from top experts, including senior AJC staff from AJC's Latino and Latin American Institute and AJC Miami board members.

IMPRESSIONS OF THE ADVOCACY DAY TRIP TO MIAMI
|
Meeting with the Mexican Consul General, Vladimir Hernandez Lara |
"Being in Miami with ACCESS leaders around the country even for a short 26 hours showed the impact that passionate young Jews can have. My eyes were opened not only to the breadth of AJC's work in Latino-Jewish affairs, but also to the amazing work ACCESS is doing in Miami specifically. It was great to see an ACCESS region in action, and to experience first hand the diplomatic power of ACCESS in a domestic setting."

"AJC Is once again showing that it can navigate its century-old legacy nimbly in each new era. We are working to make AJC THE way for young Jews to impact our community, our neighbors and our future by working together and building on the respect and authority that AJC earns every day around the world."

"This trip taught me first hand why ACCESS' citizen diplomacy mission is critical:
From touring Miami, I saw how injustices faced by one generation of US immigrants, such as Holocaust survivors, relate closely to the issues facing Cubans and other immigrants arriving here today. From meeting others with joint international and domestic outlooks, I realized that AJC is uniquely positioned for those like me who have "inter-mestic" view points. From Jews facing discrimination in Bolivia, I saw the need for AJC's work in Latin America."

"The Miami Advocacy Day was a unique experience, allowing me to get an in-depth understanding of the important work that ACCESS and AJC do. It was my first experience attending meetings with diplomats and feeling that as a young leader, I can help the organization attain its mission of creating a just and fair world for all."
